Coastal cycle route and GR 21 trail

Lovers of the great outdoors and rich and varied landscapes, go hiking or cycling from your Les Pommiers campsite in Sotteville sur mer!

Description

Coastal cycle route

Over nearly 60 km, from Le Havre to Fécamp via Étretat, the Vélomaritime covers the Pays de Caux and its spectacular chalk cliffs. The presence of these cliffs does not allow you to follow the sea as closely as possible but, to the rhythm of the valleys, each new encounter with the coast is an enchantment for the eyes. The interior is not lacking in attractions with its villages with houses and farms typical of the Pays de Caux. Please note, this route has a significant difference in altitude in places, which makes it suitable for trained cyclists or cyclists benefiting from electrical assistance.

Now is the time to remember to take your bikes! For those of you who don't have one, rental is still possible, a few minutes from your campsite in the towns of St-Valéry-en Caux and Varengeville-sur-Mer, for example.

GR 21 trail

Take the famous GR21, elected in 2020 “French’s favorite hiking trail”. It runs along the Côte d’Albâtre from Le Havre to Le Tréport, passing through Sotteville-sur-Mer. The landscapes are very diverse, alternating between the wild coast with its limestone cliffs, its pebble beaches, its ports, and the interior of the cultivated lands where beautiful residences rub shoulders, the forests, the Norman pastures and the typical cultures of the Pays de Caux such as flax, cereals or potatoes.
If the GR cannot always follow the sea because of the friability of the limestone cliffs, the landscape is always magnificent!
The well-marked trail crosses numerous villages where you can get supplies. It can easily be used in both directions, from Dieppe to Le Havre, or vice versa. The GR 21 crosses many villages with shops and tourist discoveries. This trail is affordable for most hikers, whether experienced or not.
